Getting the Most from Your Hearing Aid

For many people with hearing loss, the most common communication needs of daily living can be difficult and frustrating. Associated Audiologists, Inc. offers a hearing education and rehabilitation program providing a collaborative, problem-solving approach to communication challenges called “Hearing Perks.” This program involves a group setting, incorporating professional audiologists and persons with hearing loss, along with their families and/or significant others.

Why “Hearing Perks?”

Hearing aids have been the primary means of addressing the communication challenges that result from hearing loss. However, because hearing aids cannot completely restore normal hearing function, it is helpful to develop communication skills and techniques that will improve the ability to hear and understand. While fitting the correct hearing aids is vital and may be the appropriate first step, in many circumstances more help is needed and can be provided through our auditory rehabilitation program, “Hearing Perks.”

The Program – What the Participant Gains

“Hearing Perks” will help those who participate to get the most from their hearing aid. Participants will better understand hearing loss, its impact, and the solutions to the communication challenges faced in daily living. Participants will learn:

  • Proactive hearing aid maintenance
  • How to develop and use effective communication strategies, listening skills and speechreading to enhance communication
  • What assistive technology is available to assist with hearing loss, including FM systems, telephone products and alerting devices
  • How to cope with hearing loss by gaining input from professional audiologists and from others with hearing loss

Share the Care

Adults with hearing loss, as well as their families and/or significant others, can benefit from this program. Please “share the care” by bringing a friend or loved one who may benefit from this information.

How to Enroll

To join us for coffee and conversation at “Hearing Perks,” please call Associated Audiologists, Inc.
