Dana N. Jacobson, Au.D.
Dana N. Jacobson, Au.D., an audiologist with Associated Audiologists, Inc., enjoys the unique opportunity the specialty presents to learn something new every day. “Audiology is one of the medical fields where there is an equal mix between the research we have available, and the impact it can have on our patients’ lives.”
One of the areas Dr. Jacobson enjoys assisting patients with is being able to hear in noisy environments. “When I work with people, the most common complaint is difficulty communicating and hearing conversation,” she says. In fact, Dr. Jacobson recently co-authored a book chapter that examined how damage to the ear results in speech understanding deficits.
“I like educating my patients on the aspects of their unique hearing loss,” Dr. Jacobson says. “This helps patients recognize how their hearing loss will impact their individual communication situations.”
Dr. Jacobson practices at Associated Audiologists’ office on the campus of Saint Luke’s South. Her clinical experience includes performing her externship at Associated Audiologists; serving as a student clinician at the Midwest Ear Institute; and working as a student clinician in the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Her educational and professional associations include:
- Doctor of Audiology, University of Kansas
- Recipient, Larry E. Marston Outstanding Audiology Undergraduate Student Clinician Award
Dr. Jacobson has served as the healthy hearing screenings coordinator for the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes Program and has participated as a member of the audiology team on medical missions to Antigua, Guatemala. Dr. Jacobson lives in Kansas City, where she enjoys a variety of activities, including spending time with her family and reading.
