Larry Ruder, M.A., F.A.A.A., a senior audiologist with Associated Audiologists, Inc., knows first-hand what it’s like to wear hearing aids – he has a hearing loss himself.

“Because I wear hearing aids, I have better insight and appreciation for the problems and complaints my patients have about their hearing loss,” Larry says.

Larry suffered a high-frequency hearing loss as a young adult after exposure to firearms. He has used various styles and models of hearing aids through the years, but he feels the new open-fit technology he currently wears is better in clarity, speech recognition and comfort than anything he has ever worn before.

Larry has extensive experience in the field of audiology. He spent many years in medical audiology working in the offices of ear, nose and throat specialists in Kansas City. In addition, he has helped thousands of his hearing-impaired patients improve their hearing with hearing aids, counseling and caring service. Through 42 years, he has been an active professional in the remarkable technical advances in personal hearing aid amplification.

Larry grew up on a small farm south of Hays, Kansas. He and his wife, Ginny, live in Overland Park. They have three adult children and seven grandchildren. Larry and Ginny are active in the community through participation in church, school, youth sports and community service organizations. Larry enjoys spending time with his family, reading and outdoor activities, such as hunting and fishing.
