Sam Bittel, Au.D., F.A.A.A., an audiologist with Associated Audiologists, Inc., likes a challenge, especially the challenge of treating dizziness and balance disorders.
“Having a balance disorder can be a frightening and frustrating experience for patients,” Dr. Bittel explains. “The potential impact of a fall or being off balance can be devastating. It is important that we properly diagnose and treat this problem. It affects nearly 5 million people each year.”
Dr. Bittel practices at Associated Audiologists’ office on the campus of Shawnee Mission Medical Center. “It is very exciting to be able to offer a dizziness and balance program to our patients, and rewarding for me as an audiologist to see the positive results treatment can have.”
His educational and professional associations include:

- Specialization in vestibular anatomy, physiology, diagnostics and treatment during two-year residential training at the American Institute of Balance and the National Balance Centers

Dr. Bittel has been published in several peer-reviewed journals on topics ranging from hearing conservation to vestibular diagnostics. He also earned a number of awards for exceptional academic and clinical achievement from his doctoral program and the Florida Academy of Audiology.
Dr. Bittel and his wife, Brennen, live in Kansas City, Missouri. She is a resident physician in neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He enjoys hiking and snow-shoeing.
