Sam Gillespie, Au.D. F.A.A.A.
“The advances in technology have made it possible for us to help a wide range of patients,” Dr. Gillespie says. “But it takes more than technology to help someone hear their best. Diligent follow up, along with aural rehabilitation, are what it requires for each individual patient to have the best experience.” Growing up, Dr. Gillespie was aware of the profound difference hearing aids could make in someone’s life. “Both of my grandfathers had hearing losses,” Dr. Gillespie says. “One grandfather wore hearing aids, while the other did not. I saw first hand the positive impact hearing aids had on his quality of life.” Dr. Gillespie decided to pursue audiology as his career after interviewing an audiologist as an assignment for a high school class. “That experience made me realize helping someone hear well could be a very rewarding profession.” Dr. Gillespie’s educational and professional associations include: • Doctorate of Audiology, University of Kansas-Medical Center • Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology • Member, Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association • Member, Kansas City Society of Audiology • University of Kansas-Medical Center, School of Allied Health Scholarship and Avis G.
