Dr. Smittkamp earned both her Doctorate of Audiology and her Doctorate of Philosophy in audiology degrees from the University of Kansas. Her doctoral research focused on the effects of aging and cochlear damage on the auditory brainstem in a preclinical model. Before joining the practice, she was involved in preclinical neuroscience research at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Her research has been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Smittkamp has a special interest in assisting patients with hearing loss and tinnitus. She has advanced training in the most current therapeutic technologies for tinnitus, as well as in advanced hearing aid technology.
Dr. Smittkamp is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the Tinnitus Practitioners Association.
