Audiologist, Tinnitus and Sound Sensitivity Specialist and Shawnee Mission Clinic Manager
Dr. Smittkamp earned both her Doctorate of Audiology and her Doctorate of Philosophy in audiology degrees from the University of Kansas. Her doctoral research focused on the effects of aging and cochlear damage on the auditory brainstem in a preclinical model. Before joining the practice, she was involved in preclinical neuroscience research at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Her research has been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Smittkamp has a special interest in assisting patients with hearing loss and tinnitus, and/or sound sensitivity. She has advanced training in hearing aid technology, as well as in the most current therapeutic technologies for tinnitus and/or sound sensitivity.
She is a member of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), holds a certificate of clinical competence in audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), is a member of the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (KSHA), and the Tinnitus Practitioners Association.
