Effective July 2023, Dr. Steele no longer sees patients in clinic, but he remains very much involved in the practice in an administrative role, leading the team of doctoral-level audiologists who staff all eight clinics.
He has an ad hoc graduate faculty appointment at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he has taught audiology coursework and supervised students. He also provides clinical supervision for audiology students from the region.
He earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in audiology degree from the University of Kansas. Dr. Steele’s interests and passion are in the areas of hearing loss rehabilitation and hearing aids.
Dr. Steele has served as treasurer of the board of directors of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology where he remains involved in legislative initiatives; was past treasurer; is past president and continues to serve on the board of directors of the Overland Park Rotary Foundation; co-authored a book chapter with Jack Katz, Ph.D., on “Introduction to Aural Rehabilitation” for the textbook, Handbook for Clinical Audiology, third edition, by Raymond Hull; and was named a 2017 Hero in Healthcare by Ingram’s magazine.
Dr. Steele is a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary; very active in his local church; serves on the board of directors for The Hub-Argentine; is on the advisory board for Hear2Help; and serves on the University of Kansas Board of Advocates School of Health Professions. Julie, his wife, is Director of Operations for the practice.
